Since 2018, COMTRADE LTD. has been an electrical contractor. Born out of the amalgamation of two successful companies in the industry, United Electric (part of the Trade-Mark Industrial group of companies) and John Raepple Electric Ltd. (JREL), COMTRADE has many decades of commercial and institutional electrical experience. Primarily focused on Southwestern Ontario, we have the resources and capabilities to provide services across Ontario.
United Electric (UE) and John Raepple Electric Ltd. (JREL) have both earned well-respected names through a combined, proven track record that spans 92 years of safe work environments, successful projects, repeat/satisfied customers, and quality workmanship. These common attributes made UE and JREL an ideal fit in terms of safety, values, culture, and customer service.
United Electric (UE) began in 1956. In 2013, Trade-Mark Industrial purchased the Guelph, Ontario based contractor. While UE continued to provide essential service work to their industrial and new electrical construction customers in Southwestern Ontario, they also expanded their services to include institutional and commercial work within the Trade-Mark Industrial group of companies.
Established in 1990, John Raepple Electric Ltd. (JREL) grew to become a leading ICI electrical contractor based on Cambridge, Ontario. With a wide range of services including new electrical construction, major and minor renovations, electrical maintenance and communications, JREL’s service area quickly expanded to include all of Ontario. With complete design-build capabilities for electrical installations, John Raepple Electric has completed everything from multi-million-dollar projects to small service work.
Trade-Mark Industrial Inc. (United Electric’s parent company and now COMTRADE’s too) was incorporated in October of 1998 by Russ Straus who remains President and Sole Director. Since inception, Trade-Mark has experienced tremendous success and growth in both Canada and the US as an ICI multi-trade contractor with services including millwrighting and rigging, fabrication, piping and sheet metal to name a few. Please visit the Trade-Mark Industrial website for a full listing of their services.
